Farm, Fish, and Friends

Alpha hogs the computer these days and doesn't share. I've been playing with new friends recently! We went to Alpha's grandfather's farm awhile back. My good friend and look-alike Maddie was there, and of course his grandfather's dog Hooch was an excellent host. Maddie and Hooch hate cats as even more than me! They swam in the water trying to capture the elusive catfish all day! That's the only explanation for them getting in that liquid of doom. Deep water is scary. I waited on Alpha to drag the catfish out of the water before I pounced. Pictures included!
I also stayed with my buddy (my Alpha used to be her Alpha) Roxie for a few days. Ladies, I must admit, I found my dream hunk. His name is Max and he came to play with Roxie and meet me. He's one fine stud. There's no other way to put it. We would make beautiful puppies. We played and played all day. I should be getting some pictures and maybe videos soon and I'll post them so you can all see his handsomeness.
I love to frolic!

Houdini Ain't Got Nothin' On Me

I escaped! Alpha got a new lightweight house for me to stay in during the day. Instead of the heavy duty metal one, this one had mesh sides. Little did he know I was planning my escape like the fellas of Shawshank. One morning after he left I got a hole started in the mesh and I was FREEEEEEEEE! I found all his socks and carried them around. I found a squeaky animal and played with that. I even sat on the couch, but he has no proof of that. ::Hey puppy, you know you shed, right?::
But he finally came home and found me. Now I'm relegated to the metal house again, but I had my freedom!
No more updates on my haircut. I like my lovely locks. Maybe I'll chew the cord of the trimmers...
Alpha is going to Colorado without me! He's going to see Danel, his littermate. I would be a great bear dog. No bear would dare mess with me. I could even wear my backpack! I think I'm scared of flying though... maybe one day. Maybe one day.

I'M SO CONFUSED!

Yea, it's been awhile since I posted. Here's why:
Alpha and Beta got married.
Alpha and Beta LEFT ME for two weeks with the Boston Terrier Made of Honor (that's Nessa, she has a Mac but REFUSED to let me use it. I showed her by destroying her pillow in the middle of the night. She promptly put me in a cone of shame made from the pillow case).
Alpha and Beta bought a house and started their own blog about it HERE. The copycats. I hate cats.

So. Practically two months now that I've been second fiddle. They even played with another dog while they were gone two weeks!

The nerve of those two!!
Anyways. We have a new home now with our very own yard!
There's talk of my fur being shaved. Not sure what to think of that. I'll be tons cooler in this Alabama summer heat, but I look so pretty! More to come on that.
And for updates on Alpha, Beta, and their new home, be sure to check out http://theforeverhoneymoon.blogspot.com

A farm-style morning

FUN DAY!! We spent the night at Alpha's Pappaw's house last night. We've talked about his house/farm before in my last post. I had the BEST time out there. I got to play with Hooch again, he loves to fetch sticks, even out in the pond!! I prefer to chase Hooch while he fetches. Except in the water.. I don't like deep water so I wait on the bank and POUNCE like a lion when he gets close. Oh, bad reference.. lions are cats, fiendish beings. I pounce like a WOLF. Yea, a wolf. I decided chickens are fun; they're so easy to round up into a circle! I met a horse too. Those things are BIG.. I decided I would keep my distance just to be safe. I also met some miniature hoomans! Brody, Bryce, and Brittlee. They are part of the same pack, and they're all still puppies. They know how to have fun! They liked petting me, I wanted to tackle them so bad!! We want to play with them again.
It sure did wear me out. I can't wait to go back! I'm planning on spending alot more time there; there's just so much fun to be had!!

I DO know how to herd!

I FINALLY GOT TO DO WHAT I'M MADE FOR! I herded!! It was awesome!! Alpha took me to his Pappaw's house, he has horses, a cow, a donkey, some chickens, etc. the cow is still a baby, and the donkey is some miniature breed. At first I just chased, but then I figured out Alpha was trying to make them go certain directions and I helped!! It was awesome. No pictures this time, it was just training and Alpha had his hands full. The donkey got bold and tried chasing me but I escaped. I can't wait to do it again!!

Alabama Tornado

It's been a crazy few days. The worst tornado outbreak in history rolled thru Alabama Wednesday. Alpha and I were lucky; the really bad ones missed us by a couple miles. It was close enough that we hid in the bathtub. I even got to wear my life jacket! Alpha thought it would give me extra protection from debris, and make me more noticeable if the worst happened. Luckily we didn't have to find out.
His hometown of cullman took a direct hit. All his family is safe, but the destruction is really bad. Him and Beta have been volunteering to help get trees off people's houses, they need more help. If you can donate food, water or time, cullman high school is volunteer headquarters. People with chainsaws are also in need.
We just found out Casting Crowns is hosting a benefit concert tonight (Sunday) at the cullman county fairgrounds at 7 pm.  IT'S FREE! They are asking for donations. Help spread the word!
Alpha also wanted to say thanks to everyone from all the country who has been sending support! It's more appreciated than you could ever know!!!
We Are Alabama!

Beware

I've discovered I have laser vision. My first act will be to melt the Screaming Banshee of Death. My second action will to burn Alpha's restraining rope. Be warned hoomans. I have my evil laser eyes set on world domination.

Rain, March Madness, Thunder

Alpha is insane. He's lost it. He took me to Monte Sano State Park Friday to camp. Fun, right? What he failed to mention was that the forecast was for THUNDERSTORMS. He said he wanted to test his rain fly for the hammock he sleeps in, I think he wants certifiable. Because there was no one else there (most hoomans DON'T camp in storms) I did get a lot of off-leash time. I spooked a pair of owls so Alpha could take their picture. They make funny noises.
Back to the storm. Alpha parked me under his hammock and rain fly. I love getting wet, but that thunder stuff? I'll pass. We stayed dry, but I finally convinced Alpha it was time to leave when the thunder got extreme around 7 am. He's starting to understand my whimpers.
In March Madness news, I've correctly picked 2 of the Final Four teams (Butler Bulldogs and UConn Huskies). My bracket is currently beating Alpha and 2.5 million other hoomans according to ESPN's Tournament Challenge. It's all about the dogs. We rule. If there were any Australian Shepherds in the tourney, they would win easily.
Oh dear, Alpha is getting out the Screaming Banshee of Death, time for me to go hide!

Running.. But not chasing

*pant* I'm tired. Alpha took me to the park. A hooman park. With a few dogs, but mostly hoomans. And they all wanted to be herded! Some were on two wheels sitting down and running, some had wheels on their legs, some just ran. They WANTED to be chased! I know it! And we were running too, just not chasing! But whyyyyyyyy!! We should have kept them all in a right group and going the same direction. Hmph. I did escape from Alpha's rope harness once. I did like I should and came back when he whistled. But not before I ran after a few hoomans.
Time to refill the tank. Keep running hoomans! I'm coming after you one day... One day...

Quick Hit!

Heads up! This post comin' at ya hard and fast! My bracket is doing awesome. I started 4 for 4! Check the previous post. I'm dominating.
We just got back from a 2 mile run. Fun stuff. Bikes scare me. Is it gonna pass you? Is it gonna chase you? Is it gonna bunny hop over you? Who knows?!
Don't look now, but Alpha allowed 'the man' to invade my blog! We've partnered with 1800PetMeds to get you free shipping; and with The North Face for a flat shipping rate. Click through the banners, Alpha says I get special treats if you click through and buy stuff, SO DO IT FOR ME HOOMANS!! Momma needs a brand new pair yellows!
Guntersville State Park rocked. I chased the waves in the lake, I got to eat pieces of hamburger, I chewed through my leash, and then chewed through Alpha's kayak strap/backup leash (Don't tie me up and it won't happen, genius!). All around awesomeness. I even started to overcome my fear of things over water (docks, bridges, etc). Pics below. And click through the banners and buy stuff! Support you're favorite bloggin puppy!

March Madness Mascot Bracket!

My Guntersville Camping post is coming, I promise. But with March Madness about to kick off I HAD to throw up a post on my bracket. It involves a process almost as convoluted as the BCS system: pick the mascots. Complex I know! Here's some key points:
1. Most important point! Cats stink. They always lose. Any cat, lion, tiger, etc. If two cats play each other, the most ferocious feline wins. I hate cats.
2. Dogs always win. DUUUH. Dogs rule. If two dogs play each other, my favorite wins.
3. Animals beat hoomans. Sorry Alpha, hooman mascots are inferior. Aztecs? Really?
4. Inanimate objects/plants are auto disqualified. Silly mascots.
5. This "First Four" play in thing is silly. UNC-Asheville is the exception. Bulldogs!

Here we go.

In the East! I have a doggie friend in Johnson City, TN named Buckeye, so I have Ohio State it to the Elite Eight against the Washington Huskies. The Orangemen beat the Sycamores.. because Orange's are tasty and a Sycamore is a ridiculous mascot (I'm looking at you Indiana St). Not much commentary on the East, the Huskies start off by playing the Georgia Bulldogs, and since there's sooo many Bulldogs in the tourney (I thought Bulldogs only skateboarded) I went with the Huskies here.
The West!
Blue Devils beat Pirates. Duh. Volunteers beat Wolverines. Doggies! Wildcats and Tigers.. stupid cats. Tigers are more ferocious (Rule #1). More Huskies (UConn), keeping the Bison in a herd (see what I did there?? All dogs should herd. It's cool). Owls beat Nittany Lions (bleck! cat!). Elite Eight here consisted of a Husky and Volunteer. Since a Volunteer isn't REALLY a dog, just a LAME college's (cough..Tennessee..cough) attempt to be cool by using a dog as a mascot, we go with the Husky.
The Southwest!
Boston U. Terriers trash the Jayhawks. Annoying bird. Rebels beat the Illini.. because what squeaker toy is an Illini?! Spiders over Commodores (Rule #3). Eagles over Cardinals, for obvious reasons. Hoyas (wha..?) advance by default over the First Four (#5!). Irish over Akron Zips (like a zipper?) because I assume they're an Irish Wolfhound, or Irish Setter maybe...Elite Eight matchup is the Irish vs the Terriers. Terriers prevail.. because I really don't know what the Irish are.
The Southeast!
A First Four team makes it! UNC-Asheville Bulldogs! Skateboarders! Unfortunately they get matched up against ANOTHER Bulldog (from Butler) and since Bulldogs tire easily and the UNCA Dog played an extra game, the Butler Bulldog wins. Aggies over Wildcats.. Hoomans over cats!! Hooray! Bulldogs (of Gonzaga.. sheesh at the skateboards..) over the Red Storm (Seriously?). Terriers over Cougars.. Dogs Rule, Cats Drool!! Gators over Gauchos (Ok really?! a Gaucho?? I give up.) Tough game in the Elite Eight here.. another Bulldog vs Bulldog matchup. I go with Butler. I have trouble pronouncing 'Z's.
FINAL FOUR!
Washington Huskies vs UConn Huskies. Tough call. Husky on husky? I went with Dubs, the Washington Husky. He's a Malamute. Winner.
Boston Terriers vs Butler Bulldogs. Butler. Because the Terriers I know are spoiled and kinda wig me out.
AND THE CHAMPIONSHIP!!
Dubs the Husky for all the marbles. Just too much energy to contain in those Huskies.
So there you have it! It's a winner. Alpha's bracket doesn't have a shot.
And just for fun, skateboarding bulldogs!!

Guntersville State Park

We just got back from camping at Guntersville State Park, and I am pooped! I was supposed to stay on a leash the whole time, and after I chewed through mine I think Alpha was unhappy. He did let me play in the lake though! I'll make a full post later, but it's nap time.

Part Two of the two-for-one!

BANKHEAD!! Oh what a fun place. Acres and acres of national forest with not a soul around other than possums, armadillos, squirrels, and SMELLS. Alpha and Beta took me hiking to Capsey Creek Falls today. There's no established trail; it's one of those "park here, hike West until you hit the stream, then follow it down to the falls" kinda places. Alpha wanted to try a shortcut, which ended up not being shorter on the way in, but the way out was much much shorter. There was a ginormous tree that had fallen across the route, Alpha and Beta climbed over, but it was too high for me. They wouldn't even help me! They said I had to do it on my own.. And I did!! I SOARED over the tree. It was amazing. Like I was flying. When we got to the gorge at Capsey Falls, there were giant ICE SWORDS hanging from the bluffs. Some were over 6 feet tall! Getting down in to the gorge was quite the adventure. It involved Beta handing me down to Alpha, which I did NOT enjoy. But we finally made it down and MAN it was worth it. Here's a few pictures.
WE HAD SO MUCH FUN!!

Part One of a two-for-one

Alpha keeps saying this weekend is a twofer. Which is NOT related to a gopher unfortunately. Apparently it means two-for-one. Part one was a trip to Sportsman's Lake! Man, there was lots of prey there. They kept retreating into the evil water. Dirty scoundrels know deep water is my kryptonite. I'm including a picture of me staring at those winged and webbed fiends. Tomorrow is Part Two; Bankhead!! Uber pumped about that. More to come.

Weather!

I'm stoked. ::I knew I shouldn't have left the Winter X Games on during the day:: Wednesday night we have a possibility of a few inches of stuffing. I love stuffing, sometimes it means Alpha's hunt gets cancelled and we get to frolic. And THEN, this weekend the weather is supposed to be SICK (that means good). Alpha says we might try to go on a hike somewhere exciting. Cross your paws for fun weather coming up!! Follow this blog for Alabama weather info.

Monte Sano Hiking

You hoomans better get outside, this weather is AMAZING!! Alpha took me up to Monte Sano State Park to enjoy it! Monte Sano is Spanish for 'Mountain of Health'. Yea, that's right, I know Spanish. I sniffed 167 trees. It was invigorating. I wanted to splash in a creek, but Alpha would only let me play at the edge. We got to see lots of great views. Alpha kept trying to get me to go close to the edge, but I wasn't having any of that! I don't even like walking on bridges over small creeks, he practically has to drag me across those.
Oh I gotta go! We're going to play outside!! Here's some pics from today.

Staycation!

The Boston Terrier Made of Honor decided to go out of town for awhile, so I get a mini staycation! There's supposed to be more stuffing tonight, maybe Alpha won't have to go on his hunt tomorrow and we can pay in it!! ::Lilo, you know it's called snow, you talked about it last time:: Yeah, but stuffing sounds more fun! Stuffing stuffing stuffing!!

Beta's cheeseburgerhead friend is super excited about the Packer's going to the superbowl, and I've decided to root for them because I don't want the burglars to win. ::Ok wow, that needs some translating. Beta is Ashley, cheseburgerhead friend is Cheryl, I guess cheeseburgers are more appealing than cheese, and the burglars are the Steelers (steal-ers... What a moron):: Stop infiltrating my blog you fiend!! People like deciphering my language. Go buy me some yellows, all mine are under the couch.

Snow, Alabama style!!

Hey snow hoomans!! Alabama had a blizzard this weekend. TEN FEET !!! ::Lilo, you should tell them we got ten of YOUR feet:: Ooh fine. We got about seven human inches, and it is AMAZING. Alabama has to improvise when it comes to sledding, so Alpha modified a wakeboard to be a snowboard, and he taught us how to snowyak! (That's using a kayak as a sled.) We also used a snow ramp to get a little air. As the Boston Terrier Made of a Honor says, it was totally wicked!! Alpha didn't have to go on his hunt today, and neither did Alpha #2, that's Ashley. (Alpha won't let me call her Beta, he said it's not politically correct). She had a couple major wipeouts in the kayak, only one of which was Alpha's fault. Luckily he took the brunt of the damage then. Enjoy the video of me snowyaking!

Time to cheer for the SEC. I hate Ducks, they're so taunting...
